Sketching: I'm Not a Violinist!

I'm Not a Violinist! - Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso (Your Lie in April)
Also on display in my DeviantArt, if you'd rather check it out there.

"You should try it at least once, you know."
"H--huh?"
"Come on, play my violin!
"You know I'm not a violinist."
"Yeah, but it won't hurt to try!"
"The competition's just days away and you're the one that said I need to practice more-- HEY! Don't drag me--!"

Finally. Finally. This two-week-plus-old drawing is done. The only reason it took me this long for this piece was just the sheer amount of schoolwork.

So, I believed it would be funny when Kousei played the violin, and well... I'm quite right. Quite entertaining. It was inspired by my own expression playing my violin... well, roughly. That gave me the moment of inspiration... and as a drawback, I'm now back to thinking about Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso. Feels. Hooray.

But oh well. It all started with some quick planning sketches in my sketcbook

And then I did a more refined sketch on the page behind.

Again, due to the fact I've drawn Kousei before, twice now, drawing him again was not tha big of a fuss. Just needed to add the rest of his body.

And then, I got Kaori to draw. boy did she take a long, long time to finish. I've erased and remade the face near ten times, and her sitting pose also near ten times... The only woman I've drawn was Celty from Durarara. I've never drawn a girl with a face, and in a sitting position before. Good experience, perhaps.

Filling in Kousei wasn't all that much of a fuss as well, which is why I sketched him in before shading Kaori. Oh, I used my HB pencil quite heavily here for the lines, then proceeded along with the 2B, 4B, and 6B for darker places. Used a rolled tissue paper to rub and smudge.

Kaori wasn't all that much fuss to shade as well. Proceeding with the background, here.

But then again, why did I decide to do a full background? The piano was absolute hell. Did all that in a day, and quite messily, which meant more photoshop work. See the sheer amount of difference between this original sketch and the final image?

Fixed the colors and contrast, then went over and fixed the parts which required moving around and smudging. And there you go. Boy, did that took my interest. Now, on to Chemistry work.

My Sketches of 2015

Several day ago, I've shown my collection of photos. Again, I'll introduce you to several of my sketches that I made last year, so we could be properly on our way to greet 2016.

Back then, I was playing Skyrim. Thus, I figured I should draw something from there; I have little creativity back then, to be honest. I mostly (or actually, wholly) copied (but not traced) from some guy's work. Thank you kindly to the guy, sorry for not being able to remember your name.

And this was when I planned the Fall of an Empire, the Dragons' Court.

I've always loved to draw. Sadly, missed out on drawing for a while due to piling work and getting a new laptop early last year, this one I'm using right now, which I've devoted for gaming for some time. Found new inspiration in several anime I started to watch.

Kousei and Kaori's Performance
My treasured piece, of the show I love most. Took a scene from the opening, then watercolored, as the art class at that time was about watercolor. Used too little water, I think.

Crossing Sabers
This came up on a whim. I wanted to study the pose and.. tried to have a laugh. Kirito from SAO season 2 was amusing, so much so that I had him square off against Vader. Never intended to shade.

Here, I studied poses again. Just finished Shingeki no Kyojin back then, I think, and copied someone's work. My thanks for the idea, and sorry for not being able to remember your name.
Shu and Inori - Guilty Crown
This one, lovely pairing. just took a scene from the opening and detailed it.

Captain Levi - Shingeki no Kyojin
Attack on Titan. My friend, who really really likes Levi, asked me to draw him. As a facial study, I eventually did it.

Persevere
My first original character, and original pose. I won't even try to do the body just yet, so I covered it with the cape. Oh, and also messed up the cape shading, looks like.

Kaneki - Tokyo Ghoul
I'll admit it. This looks nothing like Kaneki. And something's quite off... creepy.

Gazing Duty
Another OC and original pose. A bit rigid, but good enough. Tried for a more futuristic look, but failed. Also shied away from showing the face.

New Master, New Padawan - Star Wars Rebels
Star Wars Rebels, the show I love. Decided to do Ezra and Kanan, with the references from several scenes of the series. Still looks a bit strange. Oh, and it was the first time I used a 4B pencil to sketch... useful.

Trampled Flowers - Shingeki no Kyojin
It's been long since I finished SnK, however for some reason it still is fascinating enough to make me draw one more, this time of Eren. Completely shaded, though butchered the background (or, foreground).

Some more works are in the art label, if you would want to click below. And also, they are in my DeviantArt sketches gallery.

Fanfic: Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso - Encore

As I said once, I still could not get over with this show. Perhaps, after posting this very short story; as a longer one will go against my own policy to never mess with the canonical story (and drag me with the feels for even longer).

And I would need to finish the manga. And forget about the songs.

Wow. That will be hard.

Encore
Story by Nathan Hartanto
Disclaimer: This is a fan fiction in the universe and with the characters of Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso, property of Naoshi Arakawa and Kodansha.

With a gentle press of the last key of Chopin’s Ballade no.1, tears of joy in his eyes, he whispred one word: Arigatou.

He just knew, he had reached her.

For Arima Kousei, child prodigy of the piano, winner of many, many prestigious competitions, everything had settled down. Everything had come back to normal after that day.

It has been over a month since his return to this musical world, after the glorious applause after his most moving performance of the year has passed along with the coming of the cold frosts of winter, and with it, the second grade did as well. He can feel the cold through his new school uniform as he walked through the hallway of his new school.

To think of it, everything has changed since last spring. The spring where I met you.

Not only that he is now a senior. Nor only that his world has become colorful. Nor even only that he can play the piano once more, and leaving the painful rigidness of music. No, the best part is—

“Kousei!”

He was just at the door to his new classroom when he heard the voice. That voice. That voice of a girl, forceful and inspiring at times, stern or threatening at others, but cheerful and charming for the rest. And it seems that now is one of the times the voice is very cheerful.

The girl that sat all the way on the other side of the class, beside the window was happily waving at him. Kousei’s legs, almost in a trance, took him through the rows of chairs, still not believing what he saw. He put his bag on the seat behind the blonde-haired girl, as his electric-blue eyes met stormy grey.

—the best part is that the girl that is staring back at him is Miyazono Kaori.

-o-

“So, you also enlisted here?”

They stared at each other in shock of the question they launched at the same time. Then, without skipping a heartbeat, Kaori went up in flames. Threatening. “Why did you only rarely answer my phone calls? Where were you all day? Did you really think I’ll stay put being ignored?”

She flung perhaps a dozen more questions at him, but he stayed there, silent, the ghost of a smile on his lips. Just like then, the first time we met. The person in front of him is still the same Kaori.

“Answer. Me.”

There he goes again, the trance. “S-sorry… It was hard work practicing the piano!”

She could have scolded him, hated him, ignored him back at the time, but the bell rang.

The spring is coming. The spring where I met you.

Another spring with you.

Shigatsu's Kousei

Never have I imagined that I'll be dragged in by anime. Started by the desire to judge my friend, and well well... look who lost the debate.

Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso was the second anime I watched, drawn in by the music (and people at school screaming for me to watch this). Still can't get over the feels; it was completely emotional. It really did resonate ("響け!", Hibike! -Emi Igawa, Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso) for myself. More on that on the following short story I'll post.

Thus I decided to draw some.

I was never good at drawing people. Guess these new shows gave me some inspiration. For starters, I tried following other drawings. This was the first one I properly finished. Perhaps I'll try to draw more and post more of my drawings here. There are already some in my DeviantArt, inh99.deviantart.com. Oh, my profile picture is also him; 'tis a later drawing.

I'll be off. There are final tests tomorrow.
