Grimgar - Episode 10: A Raid and A Quarrel

Last week had been pretty calm--before a storm that would be the Cyrene Mine. Now, our team continue where they left off, heading there and hacking at Kobolds in this episode ten: I'm Not Fit to be a Leader. Surely, considering the title, there won't only be battles here, but also... spoilers intentional or not.

Immediately into the episode, we were given several duels between our heroes and the kobolds. Several were quickly dispatched, however Ranta struggled with his, denying help. The exasperated face of Haruhiro became quite the amusing joke, meanwhile the battle did not disappoint; smooth moves and nice angles as usual.

That said, once more Haruhiro called out new spells and skills learned and used at the battle. This time, he even said one person's  new skill that wasn't even used, at least as far as I know. I dunno, this just doesn't give off a story about the character's progression, becoming more proficient. Well, given that this is the last quarter of the show, we shouldn't see any more of those.

Ranta, as usual, is still annoying with his dark-knight personality... this time, to the point that he was left to give a monologue, in front of sleeping kobolds. Still lighthearted and funny for now. Only, why didn't those sleeping dogs behind him wake up?

However, it did turn serious when Haruhiro disagreed with him taking loot like they were killing bugs; after all, these kobolds are sentient. Looks like we already got a clue why this episode was named as such.

Funny enough, they returned to the base at the city for no apparent reason but to rest. Their reason, so they could stay aware, however all there was to tell was one discussion and some unimportant banter.

This discussion, however, did shook me. It all started when Haruhiro invited Ranta outside to talk about teamwork. Turns out Ranta feels he has done his part, and has no intent to fraternize further with the others. However, he also pointed out that Haruhiro does have some flaws of his own, then left, fuming. Surprising outburst, never before seen in Grimgar. However, the outburst also came out late in the series. Let's just see how much three episodes could do.

After that, the night passed and Haruhiro woke outside to see Yume throwing knives. Nice relaxed insert, but again... it's three quarters of a season already.

Thankfully, we return to the action. Even more new spells, but after that, it was very nice to see Mary using the paralyzing rays of light, after that all that rogue-like action by Haruhiro, among others. Smooth action, once more.

Finally, they moved on to the next floor of the mine, hiding among the grass. It was then they saw the giant kobold that killed Mary's friends.

Well, its appearance was sudden, like a boss in Sword Art Online. All the more reason to believe that this show only focuses on its main character development, however bad it is. Well, the part when Mary turned into a hyperventilating mess was quite a cliffhanger, drawing in the boss. Thus, we shall have an epic battle next week.
